Fertilization and Weed Control Program
Our Fertilization and Weed Control Program provides seven strategic applications per year, each treatment is designed to provide the essential nutrients your lawn needs to look its best year-round.
Round 1 applied in late winter is a granular potash treatment that supplies available potassium which the grass takes up from the soil through the roots. Potash improves the root structure to promote a healthier and stronger turf.
Round 2 applied in spring is a liquid pre-emergence treatment and broadleaf weed control to prevent weeds and address any that might be present in the lawn.
Rounds 3, 4, and 5 are applied in late spring, summer, and late summer and provide your lawn with a slow-release fertilizer to help with constant growth and a healthier lawn. Weed control is applied as needed on these rounds.
Round 6 applied in the fall is a liquid pre-emergence treatment and broadleaf weed control to prevent weeds and address any that might be present in the lawn.
Round 7 applied in late fall is a granular lime treatment to balance the soil pH and help the grass roots absorb the nutrients that will be applied during the following summer fertilization rounds.
Tree and Shrub Program
The trees on your lawn are the heart of your landscape. They provide the necessary shade and breathtaking beauty. The health and strength of your trees and shrubs can make a huge difference in the look and enjoyment you get from your lawn. Unhealthy trees that aren’t being maintained
properly can even become a danger to your home and family. Turf and Pest Pro USA offers professional tree and shrub services performed by our highly-trained specialists. We love helping
you create an outdoor environment that is beautiful, healthy, and safe. Turf and Pest Pro USA begins by assessing the health and needs of your entire landscape, including the trees. We diagnose any issues and make recommendations based on years of experience. Keep your landscaping investment vibrant and healthy with our comprehensive Tree and Shrub Program. Each of the
six rounds of treatment throughout the year includes a thorough inspection of all trees and shrubs.
Round 1 applied in late winter is a dry insecticide for susceptible plants. This systemic product will translocate throughout the plants, making them inhospitable for destructive insects.
Rounds 2, 3, and 4 are applied in spring, late spring, and summer and provide specific tree and shrub fertilizer for all trees and shrubs. Dormant oil and fungicides are applied on any trees and shrubs that show signs of insects or disease.
Round 5 applied in late summer is a dry insecticide for susceptible plants. This systemic product will translocate throughout the plants, making them inhospitable for destructive insects. Round 6 applied in the fall is a potash and lime treatment to improve the root structure and balance the soil’s pH. This assists the roots in absorbing the nutrients that will be applied during the following summer fertilization rounds.

However, there are some basic principles to remember when beginning the journey to a lush green and thriving lawn. Proper mowing and watering habits are essential for optimal results. See our Turf Tips and Fun Facts below.
Mowing Tips
- Mow Weekly! Keep grass mowed to a height of 1 ½ to 2 ½ inches, with 2 inches being ideal.
- Never cut more than ⅓ of the grass blade during any single mowing.
- Sharpen mower blades yearly to avoid damaging the grass.
- Vary the mowing pattern to reduce compaction and matting and strengthen the roots.
- Mow Bermuda before it goes to seed to promote lateral growth and turf density.
- Avoid cutting your lawn too short!
- Provide Winter protection by allowing your grass to maintain a minimum height of 2 ½ inches.
- Mowing too low can cause severe damage to your lawn, especially when under drought stress.
- Remember, the higher the shoots of grass grow, the deeper the roots can go. Mowing too short is detrimental to the health of your turf.
Watering Tips
- Water Weekly! Provide your lawn with 1-2 inches of water weekly. More during dry periods.
- Water less often but for longer periods, allowing water to penetrate deeper into the roots and soil.
- To measure how much water you are applying, we recommend laying a baking sheet out while watering. Water until your pan receives 1 inch.
- Water weekly, in the early morning! Late afternoon watering promotes fungus.
- Slopes can be challenging. Water in 15-minute intervals with 30 minutes in between, to avoid run-off.
- Start watering now! Don’t wait on Mother Nature.
Bermuda Fun Facts
- Bermuda grass can shade itself if allowed to grow too tall, causing it to grow even taller and thin. Be sure to follow a proper mowing routine for best results.
- Bermuda Grass requires 100+ days of 80-85°F temps. Bermuda LOVES heat but MUST have WATER!
- Bermuda has a remarkable ability to recover from stress or damage. With warm temperatures, adequate watering, and proper mowing, Bermuda can recover.
- Bermuda Grass needs 8-10 hours of full sunlight daily to grow strong and healthy.
